Robots can do a lot of useful things in space. But to make them even more useful, there needs to be a cheap, convenient way of getting things TO the robots: modules, spare parts, tools, propellant. The Defense Innovation Unit, a small agency inside DoD, has just asked industry to come up with solutions. Its request is called Multi-Orbit Logistics Services. It contemplates delivery vehicles (large and small), fuel depots, and ways of sharing launches for more convenient delivery. The program is described here:
