About Dr. Gordon Roesler
Dr. Gordon Roesler was the Program Manager for the Robotic Servicing of Geosynchronous Satellites (RSGS) program at the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Prior to that, he was a Senior Physicist at the Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research at the University of New South Wales.
In a previous term at DARPA, he created the SUMO program, which demonstrated autonomous robotic grappling of a spacecraft in the laboratory. He also initiated the FREND program, which developed a flight prototype robotic arm for space servicing missions, now being used on both RSGS and NASA’s Restore-L mission. He has held research and management positions in government, industry and academia. He holds a PhD in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Today, Dr. Roesler is the president of Robots in Space LLC. He advises investors, government organizations, universities, and companies in ways to expand the space economy, increase the security of our space assets, and revolutionize the way we do business in space.
